St. John’s to Take on Charlotte for Weekend Road Series

Red Storm begin seven-game road trip
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's baseball team will travel to Charlotte for a three-game series beginning on Friday night in North Carolina. The Red Storm start a seven-game road trip over the next 11 days.
Game one on Friday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium is set for 6 p.m. Saturday's contest will begin at 4 p.m. and the series finale will start at 12 p.m. All games will be available to stream on ESPN+.
St. John's (5-11, 0-0 BIG EAST) split the difference in its midweek action, dropping a close 6-4 contest to Fairfield before bouncing back to take a walk-off victory over Marist, 3-1.
St. John's lost to Fairfield, 6-4, on Tuesday after the Stags scored three runs in the seventh to complete the comeback. The Red Storm erased an early deficit with a four-run third inning, highlighted by Adam Agresti's two-run homer and an RBI double from Shaun McMillan, who went 3-for-4. Rob Mansour added two hits, but Fairfield closed the game by holding St. John's scoreless over the final three innings.
Agresti hit a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth to give St. John's a 3-1 win over Marist on Wednesday, his third straight game with a two-run shot at Jack Kaiser Stadium. Dylan Fitzsimmons started the rally with a leadoff double, while Brady Clark allowed one run over five innings and Tyler Longoria struck out five in two scoreless frames to secure the victory.
As a team, the Johnnies have posted a .978 fielding percentage, leading the conference and ranking 58th nationally. On the mound, their bullpen is allowing just 7.96 hits per nine innings, the best mark in the BIG EAST and 55th in the nation. The Red Storm pitching staff also owns the conference's second-best WHIP at 1.46, ranking inside the top 100 nationally.
Evan Chaffee ranks third in the conference, allowing just 2.05 walks per nine innings, while Ian Mowad sits fourth with an average of 2.50 earned runs per outing. At the plate, Agresti has hit five home runs this season, ranking fifth in the BIG EAST.

The first time the two programs met, Charlotte swept the series from Feb 28-March 1. The closest game during the series was on Feb. 29 in a 6-5 decision in favor of the 49ers.
