St. John’s Welcomes Monmouth to Queens on Tuesday

Red Storm aim for fourth consecutive win over the Hawks
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team (12-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) is set to face regional rival Monmouth (9-2, 0-0 CAA) on Tuesday at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Last weekend, the Johnnies posted a 2–0 record, defeating Creighton, 5–2, in BIG EAST action before traveling to Rhode Island to secure a 4–3 victory over Brown.
The three-time BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week pairing of Adam Groves and Semen Agynskyy continued its strong play, finishing the weekend undefeated. Meanwhile, BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Radomir Tomic led the way in singles competition, earning a pair of victories on the No. 1 court.
Sergej Zivkovic also impressed for the Red Storm, going a perfect 3-0 across singles and doubles competition alongside Taichi Wakamatsu.
Monmouth enters Tuesday's contest having won four of its last six matches, most recently falling to Delaware, 4–0. Tuesday's matchup marks the fourth consecutive season the two programs will meet, with the Red Storm claiming each of the last three contests. St. John's holds a 4–2 advantage in the series dating back to 2018.
Under Head Coach Chris Leicht, Monmouth is coming off a CAA Men's Tennis Championship semifinal appearance after posting an impressive 19–4 overall record, including a perfect 3–0 mark in conference play. Monmouth also returns an Coastal Athletic Association First Team All-CAA Doubles selection and a Second Team All-CAA Singles honoree, who combined to post a 17–8 doubles record and a 19–5 singles mark last season.
Following Tuesday's matchup with the Hawks, the Johnnies will return to action on March 21 when Dillon Pottish's squad travels to the Bronx to take on Yale. First serve from the Cary Leeds Center is scheduled for 1 p.m.
