The Red Storm and Bulldogs meet for second consecutive season
QUEENS, N.Y. – After concluding a three-game road swing, the St. John's lacrosse team will head back to Queens to host Bryant. Face-off from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 12 p.m.
Saturday's matchup will be streamed on ESPN+ with Joey Lindstrom on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's erased a three-goal halftime deficit but ultimately came up short against Lafayette, falling 11–9 on Saturday at Fisher Stadium. BIG EAST Honor Roll selection, Adrian Nowak led the Red Storm offensively with five goals on six shots on target, including a trio in the fourth quarter, helping St. John's pull within one goal on three separate occasions late in the contest.
James Easton added a pair of goals, while Noah Plenn and Brody Hergott each found the back of the net. In goal, Matt Nelson made 11 saves, but Lafayette was able to convert late to fend off the Red Storm's comeback effort.
St. John's has emerged as one of the top man-down defensive units in the nation, ranking ninth nationally with an .857 penalty-kill percentage. Opponents have converted just two of 14 extra-man opportunities against the Red Storm this season.
The Johnnies held their opponents scoreless on the man advantage in each of the first three games of the year before allowing one extra-man goal in each of their last two contests against Lafayette and Hofstra.
Bryant enters Saturday's matchup with a 1-3 record, most recently falling to Brown, 17-6, in Providence. The Bulldogs' lone victory of the season came in a 14-7 win over Quinnipiac after opening the year with losses to Providence and Merrimack.
Under Head Coach Brad Ross, Bryant finished the 2025 campaign with a 10-5 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in America East play. The Bulldogs advanced to the conference championship game before falling to UAlbany, 12-7. Ross returns three of his top five scorers from a season ago, led by Dawson Rielly, who recorded 41 goals and five assists for 46 points. His goal total ranked among the top 30 in NCAA Division I and he earned the America East Elite 18 Award.
Zac Amend, the 2025 America East Rookie of the Year and an All-America East Second Team selection, remains a key offensive contributor. After posting 33 points as a freshman, the sophomore midfielder leads the team with eight goals and five assists for 13 points through four games.
Defensively, Preseason All-America East selection Luke Mead anchors the Bulldogs' unit. The senior defenseman totaled 24 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers last season, earning All-America East Second Team honors. He enters Saturday's contest with 14 ground balls and four caused turnovers in 2026.
St. John's and Bryant have met once in program history, with the Bulldogs earning a 9–6 victory on March 8, 2025, in Rhode Island. Saturday's contest will mark the second all-time meeting between the programs, as the Red Storm look to even the series and capture their first win over Bryant.
Following Saturday's contest against the Bulldogs, St. John's will have a quick turnaround as it hosts Rutgers on Tuesday. Face-off from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 3 p.m.
