Red Storm Uses Big Fourth Inning to Down Iona, 6-1

Limbani and Slade combine for seven hits as Serafinko tosses 13 strikeouts in the victory
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's softball team defeated Iona, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Red Storm Field.
The Red Storm (28-20, 6-12 BIG EAST) scored six runs on 11 hits in the contest. Natasha Limbani led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance and an RBI, while London Slade went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Jess Bianco recorded her first career home run and finished with two runs scored and an RBI. Elanna Lysiak recorded a hit, reached base three times and drove in a run.
Limbani recorded her second straight game with three hits or more and third consecutive multi-hit showing. Since April 15, the Mississauga, Ontario, native has averaged 2.8 hits per game, totaling 14 across five starts.
Slade notched her 16th multi-hit game of the campaign and fourth performance with three hits or more to add to her season total of 59, which ranks second on the team.
In the circle, Ana Serafinko delivered a dominant outing, earning her 15th win of the season after tossing a complete game. The senior allowed one run on five hits while striking out 13 and walking two.
The BIG EAST's strikeout leader has now posted nine games with double-digit strikeouts after turning in her third appearance this season with 13 or more.
Iona (17-21, 12-8 MAAC) struck first in the top of the opening inning, using an RBI triple to take a 1-0 lead.
St. John's answered in the bottom half. Slade singled and Limbani followed with a base hit before Lysiak delivered an RBI double to left field to tie the game at 1-1.
Both sides were held scoreless over the next two frames before the Red Storm broke the game open in the fourth inning. Alyssa Platero doubled to lead off the frame and later scored on a wild pitch to give St. John's its first lead. Bianco followed with a walk and came around to score, while Limbani added an RBI single. The Johnnies also capitalized on an Iona error to plate another run and extend the advantage to 4-1.
The Red Storm added insurance in the fifth. Bianco raced to an inside-the-park home run before Serafinko followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1.
Serafinko took over from there, striking out the side in the seventh to seal the victory.
St. John's will return to action at home this weekend when it hosts its senior day celebration in a three-game conference series against Seton Hall in the final BIG EAST series of the 2026 season at Red Storm Field. First pitch from Queens is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
