St. John’s Sweeps Seton Hall Doubleheader on Senior Day

Francia blanks Pirates on in nightcap as Red Storm Piles up 15 runs across twin bill
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's softball team swept a doubleheader against Seton Hall on Friday afternoon at Red Storm Field, taking game one, 7-5, before earning an 8-0 victory in game two.
Following the shutout, St. John's honored its senior class of Cassidy Stouffer, Elanna Lysiak, Sydney Totarsky, Katie Whittaker, Ana Serafinko, Loreley Francia, Paige Sterling and Jess Bianco for their contributions to the softball program.
The Red Storm (30-20, 8-12 BIG EAST) combined for 15 runs on 21 hits across the twin bill. Jess Bianco led the way with five hits and three runs scored, while London Slade added four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Natasha Limbani recorded four hits on the day, and Sarah Post drove in five runs across the two contests.
With the victory, Head Coach Michelle DePolo secured her third-consecutive 30-win campaign, surpassing the mark in each of her first three seasons in Queens.
In the opener, Limbani turned in her third consecutive start with three hits or more as Bianco added three of her own. Slade produced the Red Storm's third three-hit performance of the day in game two, bringing her season total to 63.
St. John's used timely hitting and strong pitching performances to secure the sweep, overcoming an early deficit in game one before controlling the nightcap from start to finish behind Loreley Francia's complete-game shutout, her fourth of the 2026 campaign.
GAME 1
St. John's rallied past Seton Hall, 7-5, in the opener.
Seton Hall capitalized on early miscues to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Johnnies answered immediately. Bianco led off with a single before Limbani doubled to left to plate the first run. After Lysiak walked and stole second, Post delivered a two-run single to give St. John's a 3-2 advantage.
The Pirates regained the lead in the third inning with a two-RBI double to move ahead, 4-3.
The Red Storm responded in the bottom half of the frame. Slade and Limbani opened the inning with back-to-back singles before Lysiak delivered a two-run single to score both runners and reclaim a 5-4 lead.
St. John's added to its lead in the fourth when Bianco came around to score on a wild pitch, and Limbani delivered an RBI single in the sixth to extend the advantage to 7-4.
Seton Hall added a run in the seventh, but the Johnnies held on for the 7-5 victory.
In the circle, Ana Serafinko earned the win, tossing 4.0 innings while allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight to improve to 16-9 on the season.
GAME 2
St. John's completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory in the nightcap.
The Johnnies opened the scoring in the first inning when Serafinko lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home London Slade for a 1-0 lead.
St. John's broke the game open in the third inning. Konopka reached on an error before back-to-back bunt singles from Bianco and Slade loaded the bases. A wild pitch brought home a run before Post delivered a two-run single to extend the advantage to 4-0.
The Red Storm added to its lead in the fourth. Sydney Totarsky singled and later scored on an RBI single from Slade to make it 5-0.
In the fifth, Lysiak singled and advanced into scoring position before scoring on a groundout from Post. Later in the inning, Slade delivered another RBI single to push the lead to 7-0.
Serafinko capped the scoring in the sixth inning with a two-run home run to extend the advantage to 8-0, shutting down the Pirates in run-rule fashion.
Francia was dominant in the circle, earning her 14th win after tossing a complete-game shutout. The senior allowed just four hits while striking out four to improve to 14-9 on the season.
The Johnnies will conclude their final home BIG EAST series of the 2026 season against Seton Hall on Sunday at Red Storm Field. First pitch from Queens is scheduled for 12 p.m. The finale will broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
