St. John’s Close Out Eight-Game Road Trip at Hofstra Tuesday Afternoon

QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's baseball team will travel to Hofstra for the second game of the season against the Pride on Tuesday afternoon at University Field.
First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y. Fans can watch the game on FloSports.
St. John's (23-20, 9-3 BIG EAST) secured its fourth straight BIG EAST series victory, taking two of three from Xavier with wins of 12-7 and 8-6 (11 innings) before falling 16-6 (seven innings) in the finale at Hayden Field. The Red Storm offense erupted early in the series, totaling 34 hits across the first two games, highlighted by a six-run seventh inning in Friday's opener and a season-high 19-hit performance in Saturday's extra-inning thriller, where Cristian Bernardini's go-ahead three-run homer in the 11th sealed the series. Offensively, St. John's has excelled in situational play, ranking second in the league with 22 sacrifice bunts (69th nationally) and fifth with 18 sacrifice flies, while placing third with 193 walks and second with nine triples (0.21 per game). The Johnnies also rank third in the conference with 70 stolen bases (82nd nationally) and average 1.63 steals per game (89th).
Individually, Liam O'Leary ranks third in the BIG EAST with a 3.00 ERA (78th nationally), 2.13 walks per nine innings (84th) and five wins, while owning the conference's only two nine-inning complete games (fifth nationally). Agresti is second in the league with a .687 slugging percentage (53rd nationally) and 15 home runs (33rd), while ranking third with 0.35 homers per game (48th) and drawing 34 walks (79th). Cowan is second in the conference with three triples (58th nationally), Lewis Rodriguez leads the BIG EAST with nine sacrifice bunts (16th nationally, 0.21 per game- 35th), and Jon LeGrande ranks third in the conference with 16 stolen bases.

In the opener, Nick Biddle recorded two hits while Carlos Martinez struck out nine over 5.1 innings, but the Pride were held scoreless as Northeastern pulled away late. Hofstra showed resilience in game two, rallying from a 7-2 deficit with a four-run seventh inning highlighted by Danny Corona's three-run homer, but ultimately came up short. The Pride bounced back in dominant fashion on Sunday, scoring 11 runs in a decisive fourth inning and riding Nick Reese's first career complete game to salvage the series.
As a team, Hofstra has been strong on the defensive end, leading the CAA and ranking 45th nationally with 0.84 double plays turned per game, while posting a .972 fielding percentage, the third-best mark in the conference.
