- Volunteer Assistant Coach
St. John's Women's Soccer Head Coach Ian Stone has announced the addition of Stephan Rigaud as a volunteer assistant coach to his staff for the 2015 season. Rigaud, who brings plenty of playing and coaching experience to the sidelines, will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers this season.
Most recently, Rigaud served as an assistant for the Adelphi men's team in 2014, working not only with the squad's goalkeepers, but also the back four. Under Rigaud's tutelage, the Panthers registered a record of 12-6-1, advancing to the NE-10 semifinals.
Rigaud also has coaching experience on the collegiate level at Nassau Community College, working as an assistant coach there for the 2011 season. With Rigaud's help, the Lions were NJCAA Division III Regional Champions and National Semifinalists in 2011.
In addition to his work at the collegiate ranks, Rigaud has plenty of experience on the club circuit, partnering with such outfits as the Long Island Rough Riders, Blau Weiss Gottschee and Hicksville Xtreme. He is also the founder and director of his own goalkeeping company, Embrace the Grind, which conducts seasonal goalkeeper clinics, private sessions and game evaluation.
In his playing days, Rigaud was a two-year standout at Nassau Community College, where he was named First Team All-Region in 2008 and a nominee for the NJCAA All-America Squad. In 2009, Rigaud suited up for LIU Post as the Pioneers claimed the East Coast Conference title that season.
