QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's tennis squad captured a tough doubles point to fuel a 4-3 win over Concordia (NY) in Queens on Thursday afternoon. The Red Storm move to 9-11 on the season. Freshman Mike Lampa notched his 15th victory of the season, a team-best while aiding Stefan Bojic in the No. 3 doubles win.
Junior Asaf Honig topped Andrey Boldarev 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead in the match after STJ had clinched the doubles point with a close 8-6 win at No. 2 with teammate Derek Wallensteen.
Pavel Cerny got the win at No. 3 over Concordia's Feliz Missal, 7-5, 6-2 for the third St. John's point in the match. Lampa clinched the match win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Raphael Namias.
St. John's returns to action on Saturday, April 17, hosting Bryant at 10 a.m.
