Meyerhoff Leads St. John's At Vincentian Cup Invitational

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. - Red Storm junior Samantha Meyerhoff led St. John's with a sixth-place finish in the season-opening Vincentian Cup Invitational at Channel Runne Park in Lincolnwood, Ill. The Red Storm finished third as a team with a total of 70 points.
Meyerhoff, a transfer from Mesa Community College and native of Tempe, Ariz., completed the 4K race in 15:29. Senior Sarah Sudbury finished second for St. John's and 11th overall at the meet, with a time of 15:53.
Junior Nicole Cocozza crossed the line in 16:09 to place third on the team and 14th overall. Freshman Angela Jarvela ran 16:34 in her first race for the Red Storm, while junior Aryon Trujillo rounded out the top five St. John's runners with a time of 17:01.
Sophomore Stephanie Barnes and senior Kim Piard finished together at 17:59 and 18:00 collectively. Senior Katrina Schaefer timed in at 18:46.
Host school DePaul won the meet with a team total of 17 points, while Loyola-Chicago came in second with 63 points.
St. John's will return to action on Sept. 18 when the Red Storm travels to Brookville, N.Y., for the C.W. Post Invite.
