The Red Storm win its fourth-straight match to improve to 4-1 on the season.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Men's Tennis team (4-1) won its fourth-straight match on Saturday, defeating Quinnipiac, 5-0, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing.
"It was a great all-around performance from our guys," said head coach Dillon Pottish. "We're really looking forward to Sunday's tough battle with No. 12 Columbia," added Pottish.
St. John's came out in full force to clinch the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. In the No. 1 match, Alan Nunez Aguilera and Charlie James quickly earned the Red Storm its first doubles victory with a 7-0 sweep. Aditya Vashistha and Udayan Bhakar finished right after in the No. 2 doubles match, clinching the doubles point for the Johnnies with a 6-3 victory
In single's play, the Red Storm earned its second point of the match with a quick 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the No. 1 match by Andrei Crapcenco over Freddie Zaretsky.
Nunez Aguilera won his second match of the afternoon, defeating Aleska Martinovic (6-4, 6-3) in the No. 2 contest.
Dusan Vukicevic and Charlie James continued their winning ways in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions with victories over Hielke Moore and Austin Yannone, (6-1, 6-3) and (6-3, 6-4), respectively.
St. John's returns to the court on Sunday as they look to earn its first victory over a ranked team over No. 12 Columbia in Manhattan at 1:30 p.m.
