St. John’s Outlasts Yale, 4-1

The Red Storm’s win over the Bulldogs extends its winning streak to three matches
NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The St. John's men's tennis team continued its winning ways by extending its winning streak to three matches by outdueling Yale 4-1, Sunday afternoon.
In doubles action, the Bulldogs were able to score their only point of the contest after winning the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles contests. Nathan Brown and Dylan King were able to take down Andrei Crapcenco and Luka Sucevic, 6-3. Andrew Heller and Arnav Dhingra clinched the doubles point for Yale, besting Ognjen Trejgut and Aditya Vashistha, 6-3.
In singles play, the Red Storm came to life and took over the match against the Bulldogs. The Johnnies scored their first point of the match with a (6-3, 6-3) victory in the No. 6 match by Trejgut over Yale's Alan Sou.
Dusan Vukicevic secured the second point of the contest for the Red Storm by taking down Arnav Dhingra, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 4 match, giving the Johnnies a 2-1 lead.
Vashistha followed suit by topping Cody Lin, 6-2,6-4, in the No. 3 march to secure the Red Storm's third-consecutive point.
Crapcenco clinched the match for the Johnnies, defeating Yale's Dylan King in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, on the No. 1 court.
Alan Nunez Aguilera and Alex Roszkowski also saw action in the No. 1 doubles match that went unfinished. Nunez Aguilera and freshman Udayan Bhakar went unfinished in singles play on the No. 2
and the No. 5 courts, respectively.
"These were a great couple of wins this weekend over Bryant and Yale," said Head Coach Dillon Pottish. "We're ready and looking forward to starting conference play this coming weekend."
St. John's continues its season next Saturday, March 30, as the Red Storm battles its first BIG EAST foe of the season, Butler, at the USTA National Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
