St. John’s Travels to Seton Hall for Saturday Showcase

The Red Storm looks to win its first of five consecutive road matches to close the season
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will play its only match of the weekend on Saturday afternoon, traveling to the Garden State to take on BIG EAST rival, Seton Hall, at 1 p.m.
The Johnnies (9-4) are coming off a 4-0 defeat to Penn last Saturday, ending a five-match winning streak.
Penn won singles matches at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 positions to secure a victory over the Johnnies.
St. John's was forced to forfeit the No. 6 match, giving Penn its first singles point of the afternoon.
At the No. 2 spot, freshman Najah Dawson fell to Penn's Marta Kolwalska in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Penn's Ashley Zhu defeated Delia Arranz on the No. 4 court, 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 5 match, Jenelle Downer lost to OJ Singh in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Oceane Garibal and Jessica Livianu went unfinished in their matches in the No. 1 and No. 3 contests.
The Pirates head into Saturday's matchup with a 10-8 record and winners of their last three contests. Anicka Fajnorova and Melody Teal lead the Pirates with a combined 13 wins over their four matches.
In the last meeting between the two programs, the Red Storm swept the Pirates, 7-0, on April 6, 2018.
Livianu won her 11th-straight match of the season in last year's contest against Seton Hall, 6-1, 6-2. Olaya Inclan Solis and former teammate Irina Preotescu cemented the doubles point with a 6-2 victory from the No. 2 position, marking the team's 12th doubles point of the season.
After Saturday's contest with Seton Hall, the Johnnies will travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on Marquette on Friday, April 5, at 4 p.m.
