St. John’s Defeats Marquette, 4-2

The Red Storm wins its seventh consecutive match to improve to 13-5 on the year
MILWAUKEE – The St. John's men's tennis team continued its winning ways on Sunday, defeating BIG EAST foe Marquette, 4-2, for its seventh-straight victory.
In doubles action, the Red Storm (13-5) and the Golden Eagles traded wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. After Luka Sucevic and Andrei Crapcenco dropped their match, 6-2, in the No. 1 match, Alan Nunez Aguilera and Ognjen Trejgut forced a decisive third match for the doubles point, winning the No. 3 contest, 6-4.
Marquette gained the first point of the match, clinching the doubles point on the No. 2 court, 6-3, over Dusan Vukicevic and Alex Roszkowski.
In singles play, Marquette was able to secure their only singles point of the match when Alvaro Verdu defeated Crapcenco, 6-4, 6-4.
The No. 3 match is where the Johnnies took control of the contest and never looked back. Aditya Vashistha defeated Luis Gomez in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Vukicevic and Udayan Bhakar secured straight-set victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 matches.
Trejgut sealed the Red Storm's third conference win of the season with a three-set victory over Fran San Andreas on the No. 6 court, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The Johnnies return to action on Wednesday, April 10, for a doubleheader on the St. John's Tennis Courts against ASA Brooklyn and Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
