St. John’s Rolls Past DePaul, 4-1

CHICAGO – The St. John's women's tennis team returned to its winning ways on Sunday, defeating DePaul, 4-1.
In doubles play, St. John's needed victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches after Jessica Livianu and Najah Dawson dropped their doubles bout, 6-4, on the No. 1 court.
In the No. 2 bout, Olaya Inclan Solis and Oceane Garibal wasted no time as they defeated DePaul's Aspasia Avgeri and Marija Jovicic, 6-3.
The No. 3 duo of Delia Arranz and Gabriela Tenorio clinched the doubles point for the Johnnies as they took care of Milica Tesic and Maddie Yergler of DePaul, 6-4.
In singles play, Dawson wrapped up her singles match against Alina Kuzmenkova in the No. 3 match, 6-3, 6-1, to give St. John's their first singles point of the match.
After Inclan Solis dropped her singles match to Aspasia Avgeri on the No. 2 court, 3-6, 3-6, Garibal and Arranz responded with clutch victories to seal the 4-1 win for the Johnnies.
In the No. 4 bout, Garibal took care of DePaul's Lenka Antonijevic, 7-5, 6-2. Arranz clinched the victory for the Red Storm in the No. 5 match, outlasting Maddie Yergler in a three-set thriller, 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.
Livianu and Tenorio went unfinished in their respective No. 1 and No. 6 singles contests.
St. John's returns to action for the final time in the regular season on Saturday as they will travel to Providence, R.I., for a doubleheader against Providence and Bryant at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
