St. John’s Sweeps Sunday Doubleheader over Siena and Wagner

The Red Storm improves to 4-2 this season behind two victories over Siena and Wagner
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2020) – The St. John's women's tennis team closed the weekend with a pair of convincing wins over Siena and Wagner in a doubleheader on Sunday at the Queens College Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y.
The two victories on Sunday improved the Johnnies to a 4-2 start to their spring season. In the two matches against Siena and Wagner Sunday evening, St John's went unbeaten in doubles play, winning five of the six matches. The Red Storm as a team finished 7-2 in singles play, including multiple wins from three of Head Coach Lauren Leo's players.
St. John's 5, Siena 2
Jessica Livianu and Milka Genkova sealed St. John's first doubles victory of the evening, defeating Siena's No. 1 duo Meagan Brown and Maanya Viswanath, 6-1. On the No. 2 court, Najah Dawson and Oceane Garibal secured the first point of the day for the Johnnies as they knocked off Nanea Perkins and Juliana Goehner, 7-6 (3). Gabriela Tenorio and Kajsa Stegrell toppled Anastasia Koniaev and Petra Miszczak in the No. 3 doubles tilt, 7-6 (2).
St. John's took the first three singles matches in straight sets to cruise to victory over the Saints.
Garibal was the first Johnnie to win her singles bout as she defeated Siena's Maanya Viswanath on the No. 3 court, 6-1, 6-4.
Livianu picked up her fifth singles victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Meagan Brown in the No. 1 match.
Genkova clinched the win for St. John's with her second singles win in the No. 2 slot this season as the senior bounced Nanea Perkins, 6-4, 6-1.
Dawson claimed the Red Storm's fifth point of the contest, defeating Siena's No.4, Petra Miszczak, 6-3, 6-1.

On the No. 1 court, Livianu and Genkova picked up St. John's first doubles victory against the Seahawks, blanking Vendika Anand and Samantha Lugtu, 6-0. Tenorio and Stegrell clinched the doubles point for the Johnnies as they defeated Wagner's No. 3 duo Alegra D'Alessandro and Emma Reeves, 6-2.
For the second time this evening, the Red Storm captured the first three singles matches in straight sets to sprint to a 4-0 sweep over the Seahawks.
Garibal secured St. John's its first singles victory in the second match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Samantha Lugtu on the No. 3 court.
Dawson earned her fourth singles win of the season in her No. 3 bout, bouncing Emma Reeves, 6-0, 6-3.
Livianu sealed the victory for the Johnnies as she defeated Wagner's Vendika Anand in the No. 1 slot, 6-1, 6-0.
