Red Storm to Host St. John’s Invitational on Friday

The Johnnies will kick off the meet at 10:00 a.m.
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 15, 2021) – Following its dominant performance at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships last weekend, the Red Storm track & field team will return to Icahn Stadium on Friday to host the St. John's Invitational.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. with the women's high jump. Antonia Frazier will be the lone Johnnie in the event.
As a team, St. John's will have 28 student-athletes participating across 16 different disciplines. The Red Storm will compete against several local opponents, including Manhattan, Stony Brook, NJIT, and Saint Peter's.
Leah Anderson will take part in the 400 meters and the 200 meters on Friday afternoon. Anderson earned one of her three metropolitan titles last weekend in the 200-meter dash, capturing first place with a time of 24.05 seconds. The mark ranks first in the BIG EAST this outdoor season.
Zamira Ysaac will seek another top finish in the 400-meter hurdles after taking the top podium spot at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships with a time of 1:08.03.
Olivia Pantale, Nina D'Amato and Esmeralda Reyes will participate in the javelin throw. Pantale notched a first-place finish last Friday with a distance of 40.72 meters, good enough for fourth place on the conference leaderboard.
Onassha Rogers joins Brooklyn Chestnut in the 100 meters while Pantale and Amarys Berry headline the discus throw.
Sophomore Claire Cushing will also participate in the 1500 meters for the Johnnies. Cushing posted a personal-best time of 4:48.10 in the event last weekend to secure second place.
Anderson will join Avon Samuels, Skyy Diop and Chantai Smith in the 4x400-meter relay to close out the meet at 4:05 p.m.
