St. John’s Gears Up for Army Twilight Meet

The Red Storm squares off against Army and Albany at 3:00 p.m.
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 22, 2021) – Following its strong showing last weekend at the St. John's Invitational, the Red Storm track & field team will head upstate to West Point for the Army Twilight Meet this Friday.
The Johnnies will take on Army and Albany at Shea Stadium, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Amanda Belgrave, Ioanna Kyprianou and Antonia Frazier will kick off the meet with the women's long jump. Frazier took third place in the event at the St. John's invitational on Friday with a mark of 4.92 meters.
Leah Anderson will represent the Red Storm in the 400 meters and 200 meters. She secured first place in both events at the St. John's Invitational times of 55.17 and 23.83, respectively. Anderson's 200-meter dash mark ranks first in the BIG EAST this season while her time in the 400 meters places second on the conference leaderboard.
Anderson also joins Onassha Rogers, Avon Samuels and Brooklyn Chestnut in the 4x100-meter relay for the third time this spring. St. John's relay squad last participated in the event at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on April 10, posting a first-place finish with a mark of 46.31. The mark is the fastest time in the conference and ranks 81st on the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying list.
Samantha Morillo, Katherine Bessey, Amarys Berry and Ashley Walsh will each take part in the shot put. Morillo sits in third place on the BIG EAST leaderboard this season after recording a distance of 14.03 meters at the Fordham Icahn Invitational on March 20.
Morillo and Frazier will also participate in the javelin throw with Olivia Pantale, Esmeralda Reyes and Nina D'Amato at 6 p.m. Pantale, Reyes and D'Amato swept the top three podium spots at the St. John's Invitational on Friday. Pantale led the way with a mark of 40.56 meters.
Stephanie Gerland and Hannah Huleatt will close out the meet with the 5000 meters at 9 p.m.
