St. John’s to Welcome Marquette on Senior Day Friday

The Red Storm and the Golden Eagles will face off at 12 p.m.
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 29, 2021) – The St. John's lacrosse team will host Marquette for the final game of the regular season on Friday.
Opening faceoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. on ESPN3, available on ESPN.com and ESPN app. Dylan Scott will have the call from Queens.
Eleven Johnnies will be recognized on Sunday afternoon, as Joe Madsen, Mike Madsen, Thomas Martello, Christian Rega, Mackenzie Iacocca, Jonathan Huber, Ryan Schaeffer, Tim Kiel, Pat Smyth, Joseph Fitzpatrick and Gavin Catalano will don the red and white for potentially the last time. The 11 upperclassmen will be honored during a pregame ceremony at DaSilva Memorial Field.
After falling to No. 9/9 Denver, 19-11, on Saturday at Peter Barton Stadium, the Red Storm will look to close out the season with a win. In the team's last outing against the Pioneers, the Johnnies' offense was led by Joe Madsen and Jonathan Huber, who each tallied five points. Mackenzie Iacocca and Ryan Schaeffer also recorded a pair of goals with Jack Lutfi rounding out the scoring with a single score.
Junior netminder Brody Arges sits atop of the conference for most saves per game. As a unit, the Red Storm currently ranks first in the BIG EAST with 16.3 saves per game. On offense, Huber ranks inside the top-10 in the league for most goals per game with 2.1.
Since their last meeting on April 14, Marquette (3-8, 2-7 BIG EAST) has won one of its last two matchups. The Golden Eagles edged out Providence College in quadruple overtime, 7-6, on April 17, before falling to Villanova, 19-8, on April 24. In Marquette's meeting with the Wildcats, its offense was led by redshirt senior Connor McClelland, who posted a hat trick while four other players found the back of the net for a single goal.
The Golden Eagles offensive attack is led by Devon Cowan, who has tallied 26 goals and Griffin Fleming with 18 scores. Cowan ranks fifth in the conference for goals per game and was named BIG EAST Attackman of the Week on April 20, after guiding his team to back-to-back victories.
Friday will mark the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs. In the two teams last meeting, the Golden Eagles defeated the Johnnies, 9-8, at Valley Fields, on April 14, 2021.
