St. John’s Concludes Fall Slate at the Dragons Invitational

Red Storm will be back in action in January
PHILADELPHIA – St. John's men's tennis team concluded its fall slate at the Dragons Invitational over the weekend, a three-day hidden dual tournament hosted by Drexel.
The Johnnies took on Drexel, Monmouth and a combined team of Temple and Delaware over the three sunny November days in the City of the Brotherly Love. All four were familiar foes from the Johnnies 2022 spring schedule, although the match against the Hawks was canceled due to rain.
Giuseppe De Camelis and Carl Gustavsson led the way for the Red Storm tying for a team-high of two singles victories in three tries. On the opening day of play, De Camelis outlasted Drexel's Alex De Sousa, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, in three sets. The following day, the Trani, Italy native emerged victorious in another lengthy match, defeating Monmouth's Charlie Penmen, 6-2, 1-6, 10-7. Gustavsson eased past Monmouth's Victor Castro, 6-2, 6-4. On Saturday. In his final tilt of the fall, the 2022 All-BIG EAST selection defeated Delaware's Bernardo Texiera, 8-6.
Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves also tallied singles victories at the tournament.
The Red Storm will be back in action in January for the 2023 dual-match campaign.
