St. John’s to Face Queens College on Wednesday

The Red Storm look to carry its momentum after big win at Yale
QUEENS, N.Y. - On Wednesday afternoon, the St. John's men's tennis team will take on nearby Queens College at its on-campus tennis center at 12 p.m.
In its last outing, the Red Storm moved past Yale on Saturday, 5-2, to move to 6-1 on the year. Reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week Axel Vila Antuna notched his second win over a week's time against a nationally ranked opponent at Yale. The Valencia, Spain, native defeated no. 102 Michael Sun 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). Charlie James, Vlad Vasilache and Carl Gustavsson recorded victories on their respective singles courts in the win over the Bulldogs.
On the year, every St. John's player who has competed in singles holds a .500 winning percentage or higher. Veteran standout Ignacio Garcia leads the way with a team-high four singles wins and eight total victories in 2022.
Queens College enters the match with only a single contest under its belt. The Knights fell in their season opener against Southern New Hampshire, 5-2, on Saturday.
In the last meeting between these two nearby schools, St. John's breezed by Queens College, 6-0, on March 23, 2021. Returners Garcia, James, Giuseppe De Camelis and Evan Felcher all recorded wins in that match.
