Luke Orbon led the Red Storm with two hits
EUGENE, Ore.- The St. John's baseball team dropped the third game of its series against Oregon, 13-1, at PK Park on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman infielder Luke Orbon notched his second straight two-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Jackson Tucker extended his hitting streak to five games with a single, walk and a run scored in a 1-for-3 performance at the dish.
Kevin Michaels and Tate Ballestero both registered a base hit. Michaels has now reached base in all six of his St. John's appearances while Ballestero has reached base in six of the seven games he has played in this season.
Lefthander Oliver McCarthy was shouldered with the loss for the Red Storm (1-6).
Oregon (4-3) got on the board early in the home half of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Josh Kasevich singled through the left side of the infield to plate two runs and give the Ducks the early advantage, 2-0.
After a scoreless second frame, Oregon added to its lead in the bottom of the third. A second two-run single from Kasevich doubled the Ducks' lead to 4-0 before a double off the bat of Colby Shade and a run-scoring double play gave the home team a 6-0 advantage after three innings.
After the Ducks added one in both the fourth and fifth innings off wild pitches, the Johnnies would add a tally of their own in the top of the sixth thanks to an Orbon double that brought home Tucker to cut into the deficit, 8-1.
Oregon scored five in the bottom of the seventh to pull away and secure the series victory over St. John's.
The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow afternoon at PK Park. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. ET.
