Sonny Fauci powers the Red Storm to fifth-straight win
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's baseball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on Wednesday afternoon, winning its fifth straight game with a 6-4 victory over Wagner at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

After another 1-2-3 in the top of the second, the Red Storm added two more in the home half. Kramer sparked the offense with a one-out single before advancing to second on a wild pitch and scoring on a Ballestero single to center. Glancy, who had walked earlier in the frame and moved to third on Ballestero's base knock, then scored on a Michaels single to right, the shortstop's second run-scoring hit of the afternoon.
Wagner left runners on first and second in the top of the fifth, but did not threaten in earnest until the top of the sixth, when it put runners on second and third with two outs but could not push one across.
The Seahawks finally got on the board in the top of the eighth, scoring three runs despite not registering a base hit in the frame.
With its lead down to one, St. John's responded with two insurance runs in the home half. Paul Orbon, who entered the game as a pinch runner after a Nick Cirelli walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a Kramer two-bagger to right center. Two batters later, Kramer came home on a Glancy base knock to center.
Wagner scored one run in the top of the ninth, but could not get any closer, as Sanzio recorded the final out to shut the door for his fourth save of the year and his third in the team's last four games.
St. John's will return to action at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. when it begins a three-game set against Quinnipiac on ESPN3.
