St. John’s Set Back at No. 13/14 Jacksonville

Johnnies will start BIG EAST play on April 2, against Villanova
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The St. John's lacrosse team suffered a setback at no. 13/14 Jacksonville, falling, 25-4, to the Dolphins at Rock Stadium.
The Dolphins shot 48 percent on Saturday afternoon. Attackmen Ethan Lamond and Max Waldbaum poured in five goals each and the nation's leading goal scorer Jacob Grenier fired in four goals for the home side.
Kaden Quirk recorded 15 or more saves for the third consecutive contest. The freshman netminder logged 16 stops between the pipes.
Jonathan Huber, Caleb Zuhoski, Tom Urena III and Bobby Seel added goals for the Red Storm. Matt Duncan and Brian Kelly contributed one assist apiece.
Midway through the first quarter, Matt Duncan found himself in open space and dumped it off to Zuhoski right in front of the net for St. John's opening goal. Following the early advantage, Jacksonville spurred a 7-0 run and never looked back.
Kelly fed Huber in the second period to notch his 22nd goal of the season. Another 7-0 Dolphins rally ensued to make the score line 17-2 at the break.
In the third frame, Quirk halted seven of Jacksonville's (8-2) 10 shots on goal.
In the final quarter, Seel recorded his first collegiate goal, the freshman streaked down the field and put one in the bottom corner past Ryan Della Rocca.
Long-stick midfielder Urena III scooped the groundball directly off a face-off and scorched one past the goaltender for his first collegiate goal and the Johnnies final goal of the afternoon
St. John's (2-7) will open up BIG EAST play on Saturday, April 2, when the team welcomes RV Villanova to DaSilva Memorial Field at 12:30 p.m.
