Johnnies will face the Hoyas at 1 p.m.
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's men's tennis team will head to the nation's capital for its final regular-season contest against Georgetown. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School.
The Johnnies will face a quick turnaround following Wednesday's 4-2 defeat at Temple. The loss dropped the Red Storm to 14-5 on the year. Vlad Vasilache and Yaron Guberman tallied singles wins for the Johnnies in Philadelphia.
The conference office announced on Wednesday that Axel Vila Antuna and Ignacio Garcia were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week for the fourth time in five weeks. The pair has paced the Red Storm doubles squads with 12 wins on the season, mainly featured on the no. 1 court.
Friday's contest will mark the first time these two programs have met since the 2017 postseason, when the then-no. 7 seeded Hoyas bounced the Red Storm, 4-2, in the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals on April 28. St. John's has taken seven of the last 10 meetings between the two schools.
Upon conclusion of Friday's contest, the Johnnies will set their sights on the BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP, which are scheduled for April 21-24 at the Cayce Fitness and Tennis Center in Cayce, S.C.
