St. John’s Grabs Four Wins at Sam Howell Invitational

Zamira Ysaac collected her second victory of the outdoor season
PRINCETON, N.J.- The St. John's track and field team concluded a successful day the Sam Howell Invitational on the campus of Princeton University on Saturday, capturing three event wins and multiple top-three finishes.
Zamira Ysaac grabbed her second top finish of the season in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.16. Ysaac also secured third place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.32, less than half a second behind first.
The quartet of Leah Anderson, Skyy Diop, Brooklyn Chestnut and Tatyana McKenzie dominated the competition, collecting two relay wins on Saturday. In the 4x100-meter relay, the team outran the Princeton foursome by a full second on the way to the victory, posting a time of 46.02. The squad ran away with the 4x400-meter race, winning by over 12 seconds with a time of 3:43.19.
Esmerelda Reyes notched her first victory of the season in the javelin throw with a winning launch 40 meters. Nina D'Amato took second with a throw of 33.02 meters.
Lasma Padedze enjoyed a stellar day in the throwing events, taking second in both the discus and shot put throws with tosses of 41.37 and 12.80 meters, respectively. The graduate student has finished third or better in every event she has competed in this outdoor season.
In a display of versatility, Mandana Vouillemin grabbed sixth in the long jump (5.17m), seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.65) and 13th in the 200-meter dash (25.76).
Amanda Belgrave also impressed in the long jump, securing fourth place with a leap of 5.36 meters. Belgrave jumped 11.12 meters to secure third in the triple jump and the second top-three finish of the outdoor campaign.
The Red Storm will be back in action on Friday when it splits up to take part in the Hurricane Alumni Invitational and the Metropolitan Championships.
