St. John’s Set to Face Marist at Clover Stadium on Tuesday

Red Storm and Red Foxes to play at the home of the New York Boulders
QUEENS, N.Y.- After defeating Villanova, 11-8, in Sunday's series finale, the St. John's baseball team will return to the Empire State to host the Marist Red Foxes at Clover Stadium in Pomona, N.Y. First pitch in Rockland on Tuesday is set for 6 p.m.
The midweek matchup will be live streamed on FloSports, and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com. Admission to Clover Stadium is free for all fans, who will have a chance to win St. John's prizes throughout the night and take photos with Johnny Thunderbird.
Tuesday's contest will be the 12th against a school from the Mid-American Athletic Conference this season. St. John's owns a record of 5-6 against teams out of the MAAC in 2022, most recently defeating the Iona Gaels, 8-3, on Wednesday at Jack Kaiser Stadium.
Kevin Michaels leads the Red Storm in batting average, hitting at a .329 clip with a team-high slugging percentage of .537. The redshirt sophomore also paces the Johnnies in RBIs with 38 and boasts a squad-best 11 multi-RBI games. The Encinitas, Calif., native has an OPS of .925 to lead the St. John's offense. Michaels has tallied 19 extra-base hits, including a joint team-high 12 doubles, in 39 starts this season.
A steady presence at the plate, Tate Ballestero is one of two qualified Red Storm hitters with an on-base percentage of .400 or better, reaching base at a .414 clip. The redshirt sophomore has reached safely in four out of his last six starts. Ballestero leads the Johnnies with 54 total base hits and has two or more hits in a squad-best 17 games.
David Glancy provides a solid blend of consistency and power on the offensive side of the ball, leading the Johnnies with nine home runs. Glancy ranks second on the team in extra-base hits (18), RBIs (35) and slugging percentage (.520). The redshirt sophomore paces the Johnnies with 40 runs scored and is one of two hitters to start every game this season.
Chris Conniff enjoyed a career-best performance in the win over Villanova on Sunday. The sophomore went 3-for-4 with his first career home run and double. The Norco, Calif., native is leading all Red Storm batters in BIG EAST play, hitting at a .344 clip in 11 conference games. In 38 appearances, Conniff has walked more than he has struck out, tallying 21 walks against 18 strikeouts.
On the mound, Joe Mascio will make his fifth start of the season on Tuesday. The freshman lefthander has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his last six appearances. In his last midweek start against Fairleigh Dickinson on April 20, Mascio tossed 5.0 scoreless frames to pick up his team-high third win of the 2022 campaign.
Out of the bullpen, Vincent Bianchi has been a reliable option for the Red Storm. The Middletown, N.J., native has not allowed more than three earned runs in any appearance since April 2. In his last outing against Villanova on Saturday, Bianchi threw a career-high 4.1 hitless innings with one strikeout.
Marist will travel to Pomona, N.Y., with a record of 24-14, winning each of its last six games dating back to April 22.
The Red Foxes are 15-11 away from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., most recently sweeping MAAC foe Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J.
