Red Storm Fencing Gears Up for Pair of Meets

QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's fencing program is set to return to action for the first time in over a month when it hosts the St. John's Invitational on Saturday and competes in the Philadelphia Invite on Sunday.

St. John's will host several of the top teams in the nation on Saturday, including defending event champion Notre Dame along with Columbia, Harvard, Ohio State and Penn State.

This weekend marks the first time the Red Storm has participated in meets on back-to-back days since the 2019-20 season.

Jan Jurkiwiecz led the way for the men's squad last time out at Brandeis on Dec. 4., posting 14 wins and suffering just one defeat to pace the foil team. Ahmed Ferjani posted 10 victories at Brandeis to lift the saber team to a 27-18 record.

On the women's side, sophomore Julia Cieslar got her season off to a strong start, registering 13 wins to lead the saber team. Antonina Lachman made the most of her collegiate debut at Brandeis, matching Cieslar's total of 13 victories to give the foil squad a winning record on the day.
