Red Storm Competes at St. John’s Invitational

Women finished fifth while the men came in sixth
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's fencing program hosted its annual invitational at Taffner Fieldhouse on Saturday which featured some of the top teams in the country.
The men tallied a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes while the women earned a victory over Harvard. The women came in fifth while the men finished sixth.
Fares Ferjani led the way for the men posting 11 individual victories. Ferjani's performance lifted the men's saber team to winning record on the day (24-21). Jan Jurkiewicz and Paul Fortin followed close behind with 10 wins each.
On the women's side, Malwina Kolodziejczyk tallied 10 wins in a strong performance in the foil category. Sophomore saber fencer Julia Cieslar continued to shine on the strip, logging nine wins in Taffner against some of the best fencers in the nation.
The Red Storm will resume competition tomorrow when it travels to the City of Brotherly Love to take part in the Philadelphia Invite.
