Men’s Tennis Cruises to Victory at LIU, 6-1

Four Johnnies earn two wins on the day
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 27, 2023)- The St. John's men's tennis team kept the momentum rolling with a 6-1 victory against LIU at Syosset Sportime in back-to-back days.
With the win, the Red Storm improve to 2-0 on the season.
Three Johnnies earned two wins on the day. In doubles play, the tandem of Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves defeated Danila Ishchanka and Tuna Nergizoglu 6-1. Kaneda picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory in singles against Gui Medeiros. Adam Groves also cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win against Ishchanka. Carl Gustafsson won his singles match, 6-3, 6-0 against Ales D'Anna. He was also successful in his doubles match paired with Anton Stendal against Medeiros and D'Anna, 6-4.
Additionally, Axel Vila Antuna defeated Phillip Hilble 6-2, 6-3 in his first singles match of the season. Giuseppe De Camelis also earned his first singles match victory 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 against Arthur Vossieux.
St. John's will play its second road match of the season against Cornell on Sunday. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Reis Tennis Center.
