Men’s team tallied two wins on Sunday
PHILADELPHIA- The St. John's fencing program wrapped up the regular season at the Temple Invitational at McGonigle Hall on Sunday afternoon.
The men's team logged two victories over Penn and Stevens. Ahmed Ferjani and Fares Ferjani continued their excellent seasons, racking up 12 wins each for the men's saber squad who posted an overall record of 31-14 on Sunday. Mauricio Pellegrino and Jack Bell combined for 14 wins to lead the foil team a winning record in the regular season finale.
On the women's side, Julia Cieslar dominated once again, racking up 11 wins, and fellow saber fencer Fanni Potz-Nagy logged 10 victories. Nicole Gavrilko tied Cieslar for the team lead in wins with 11. The women's team fought hard but fell short in all five matches on Sunday afternoon.
Next up, several Red Storm fencers will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships when they travel to Boston to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional on March 12.
