Brian Kelly added a pair of goals and continues to lead the team in scoring with 38 points (22 G's, 16 A's). The sophomore attackman ranks eighth in the BIG EAST averaging 3.1 points per game. The Red Hook, N.Y., native has 82 points in his career in just 26 appearances.
In goal for the Johnnies, Kyle Munson continues to rank near the top of the league in saves per game averaging 12.8. In the BIG EAST opener, the senior became the first St. John's goaltender to record 20 saves since 2007.
After losing its first three games, Georgetown is on an eight-game winning streak and haven't lost a game since Feb. 25. Overall, the Hoyas are 8-3 and are off to a 3-0 start in BIG EAST play and have entered the top-10 in both national polls.
Earlier this week, Georgetown graduate students Will Bowen and Tucker Dordevic were named to Tewaaraton Award nominees, given to the best player in all of collegiate lacrosse. Dordevic leads the league with 38 goals on the year and Bowen is the reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus 2022 First Team All-American at defenseman.
The Hoyas boast the best man-up offense in the country converting on 63.2 percent of their attempts.
Last year in the nation's capital, Georgetown won, 23-7, on April 23, 2023. Mahecha added a goal and an assist in the loss at Cooper Field.
Saturday will mark the 22nd meeting between the two programs. The Hoyas lead the overall series, 18-3, with the last Red Storm win coming in 2016.
Saturday marks the final home game of the 2023 campaign and the regular season finale is slated for April 29 at Providence at noon.
