St. John’s Collects Four Wins at Temple Invite

Red Storm tallies 14 top-three finishes on Friday
PHILADELPHIA- The St. John's track and field team kicked off its two-meet weekend with a successful outing at Temple Invite on Friday afternoon at the Temple Sports Complex.
The Red Storm racked up three individual wins and one relay victory and registered 14 top-three results across 12 events.
Delicia Bent continued her impressive outdoor campaign, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.24. Brooklyn Chestnut secured second with a mark of 12.29, and Cassandra Lemus-Sodji finished fifth, crossing the line at 12.54.
The Johnnies dominated the 400-meter dash, capturing the top three spots as Tatyana McKenzie, Chinenye Onuorah and Nora Haugen logged times of 55.68, 55.75 and 56.29, respectively. Nia Holden notched a new personal best with a mark of 58.56. Leilani Robinson made her season debut in the 400, registering a time of 59.01 to secure sixth place.
In the distance events, Claire Cushing finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.66. Ana Markovina set a new personal-best time in the 1,500-meter run with a mark of 4:45.79 good for fifth place. Ezgi Yasar competed in the 3,000 meters for the first time in her collegiate career, logging a mark of 10:41.49.
St. John's enjoyed a solid performance in the 400-meter hurdles as Mandana Vouillemin posted a winning mark of 1:04.66. Quitterie Dujardin and Zamira Ysaac captured third and fourth with times of 1:05.54 and 1:07.10, respectively.
In the relays, the quartet of Haugen, Holden, Vouillemin and Ysaac won the 4x400-meter race with a time of 3:54.40 while the team of Blessing Assoumany, Dujardin, Onuorah and Robinson finished second with a mark of 3:55.47. The squad of Bent, Chestnut, Lemus-Sodji and Tea Siehou secured second place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.12.
In the field events, Lemus-Sodji captured her fourth win of the season in the long jump with a leap of 5.23 meters. Ioanna Kyprianou placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.79 meters. Samantha Morillo-Martinez and Jamora Alves finished second and third in the shot put with tosses of 14.15 and 14.08 meters, respectively. Meghan Ladd set a new personal best and school outdoor record in the pole vault, clearing the 3.51-meter bar to finish fourth.
The Johnnies will wrap up the weekend with a trip to Icahn Stadium for the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on Saturday.
