QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's track & field team will engage in one final tune-up before the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships at Manhattan's Coach Fred Dwyer Invitational on Friday afternoon. The last regular season meet of the indoor track and field season will be held inside Draddy Gymnasium in Bronx, New York.
The Red Storm enjoyed a successful weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational last Friday in Boston and at the 116th Millrose Games on Sunday in Manhattan.
At Boston University's home invitational, the Johnnies set 11 new season-best marks to go along with four career-best results. St. John's also placed in the top five in the 200-meter dash and the shot put.
Amarachukwu Obi registered a BIG EAST-leading time in the 200-meter dash with a 24.23-second finish. The graduate student's mark was good enough for fourth place overall out of 224 competitors. Brooklyn Chestnut and Chinenye Onuorah each tallied season-best times in the event while Tea Siehou and Ava Mabry-Spencer notched personal-record performances.
Onuorah posted a season-best and team-leading 55.27-second mark in the 400-meter, placing her 14th in the competition. Obi, Dolce McPherson and Maddie Kelso-Heap all rung up career-best times in the event.
