St. John's Captures Top Spot in Four Events at the NCAA Northeast Regional

Four Red Storm fencers finished first in their respective event
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams impressed at the NCAA Northeast Regional, claiming the top spot in four of six events. The Red Storm battled 17 other schools from across the northeast in Brooklyn on Sunday.
The men swept the top spot in all three weapons. Defending NCAA Individual Champion Jan Jurkiewicz grabbed the number one position in the men's foil for the second straight season at the regional. Ahmed Ferjani continued his impressive 2023-24 by claiming the top position in the men's saber. In the men's epee, Paul Fortin finished the sweep of the events by capturing first.
Julia Cieslar led on the women's side, finishing first in the women's saber. Catinca Dumitru and Fanni Potz-Nagy also logged top-10 finishes in the event, placing seventh and tenth respectively. In the women's foil, Malwina Kolodziejczyk notched a top-three finish by placing third. Freshman Nicole Feygin led the way in the women's epee with a fifth-place finish.
St. John's will now travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the NCAA Championships hosted by Ohio State on March 21-24.
