Kelly Wu Leads at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational; St. John’s Sits in Third Place

Wu shoots career-low 3-under, 67, in opening round at Normanside Country Club
DELMAR, N.Y.- St. John's women's golfer Kelly Wu leads the field at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational after shooting a career-low 3-under, 67, in the opening round. St. John's sits in third place in the 14-team field.
The Red Storm shot 15-over, 295, at Normanside Country Club in Delmar N.Y. to place in the top-three after first of two rounds. Three Johnnies sit in the top-16 of the 80-golfer field. The Red Storm check in 13 strokes ahead of the fourth place team and trail the tournament leaders, Boston University, by nine strokes.
After shooting a career-low 2-under last weekend at the Princeton Invitational, Wu shined setting a new personal best, 3-under, 67, on Sunday. On the back nine, the senior caught fired carding four birdies and not a single-bogey to log a 4-under, 31, over the final nine holes. The Auckland, New Zealand native carries a two-stroke advantage over the next competitor.
Cathilyn Lee sits tied for seventh place after logging a 3-over, 73, in the Capital Region. The senior shot even par, 35, over the final nine holes of the day. Laura Mizlerova registered a 5-over, 75, to take 16th place on the leaderboard.
Due to the incoming weather, tomorrow's final round has been moved up to an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available throughout the second round on SCOREBOARD.
