Women’s Tennis Concludes ITA Northeast Regionals

The Red Storm won six matches in Philadelphia over the weekend.
PHILADELPHIA — The St. John's women's tennis team ventured down to the City of Brotherly Love to compete at the ITA Northeast Regionals over the weekend.
The Johnnies won six matches across singles and doubles competition at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Center.
Captain Charlotta Buss led the way for the Red Storm, securing two singles victories in the qualifying stage and adding a doubles win alongside partner Giulia Bizzari. Buss opened the weekend with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over St. Francis' Helena Lynn in the first round of qualifying. The senior carried her momentum into the next match, battling to a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 triumph over FDU's Sophia Fredericks-McKee in the second round.
Bizzari put together a strong weekend in Philadelphia, recording three total victories. The sophomore excelled in singles play, earning a spot in the main draw after posting two impressive wins in the qualifying rounds. In the opening round, Bizzari defeated Columbia's Salma Farhat, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the second round, where she faced St. Joseph's Reagan Mangan. The Italian native showcased her command on the court, securing a 7-5, 6-1 victory to earn a place in the main draw.
In the doubles Round of 64, the duo of Noemi Babikova and Victoria Papadopoulou picked up a 4-2 victory for the Johnnies over the Rutgers duo of Zuzanna Frankowska and Karina Jumazhanova. The full results from the weekend are below.
