Chinenye Onuorah Wins the Invite 400-Meter Dash at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Nora Haugen set a new personal best in the event
BOSTON – Chinenye Onuorah took home a gold medal for St. John's in the Invite 400-Meter Dash at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday morning at the BU Tennis and Track Center in Boston.
Onuorah picked up her second 400-meter win of the season on Saturday, pacing the race in 53.99 seconds. The junior's time beat out second-place Piper Jons from Towson by just .02 seconds in Boston.
Nora Haugen continues to dominate in her junior season, posting a massive personal-best mark of 54.49 seconds in the 400 meters, finishing in third place on Saturday. The Norway native shattered her previous 400-meter personal record of 55.26 from the 2023 Indoor ECAC Championships by .77 seconds.
Both Johnnies enjoyed a successful showing at Boston College's Eagle Elite Invitational yesterday. Onuorah grabbed a silver medal in the 200-meter dash, running the track in 24.41 seconds for second place before notching a third-place time of 53.63 seconds in the 400-meter run. The Thailand product's mark in the 400-meter yesterday evening ranks fourth all-time in program history and leads the BIG EAST by over a second.
Haugen broke her own indoor 800-meter record for the second time in two weeks on Friday, posting a 2:05.87 finish for ninth place in the event. The junior had previously broken her own record two weeks ago at the Indoor Metropolitan Championships with a 2:06.25 finish for a gold medal.
The Red Storm will take a week off before gearing up to compete in the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships from Feb. 28-March 1 in Chicago.
