St. John’s Hosts Jacksonville for Its Third Game in 10 Days

The Johnnies and Dolphins will meet for the fourth straight season
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's lacrosse team will play its third match in 10 days when it hosts Jacksonville on Friday, marking the fourth straight year the two programs have met. Faceoff from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

The Johnnies (2-2) opened its home schedule last week with a pair of contests, taking down Quinnipiac, 15-9 on Tuesday before falling to Hofstra, 13-12, in overtime on Saturday.
Brian Kelly continued his scorching start to 2025, recording his fourth-straight performance with at least five points to begin the season against Hofstra. The senior scored four goals for the second game in a row on Saturday and added two assists, bringing his career point total to 158, one short of tying Mike Madsen for fifth place on the program's all-time scorers list. After his 11-point week, Kelly was tabbed the BIG EAST's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
The Red Hook, N.Y., native enters the weekend atop the BIG EAST leaderboards with 5.33 points per game and is ninth nationally with 2.75 goals per game and third in the conference with 2.75 assists per contest.
Redshirt sophomore Adrian Nowak had another productive week, netting a goal and an assist against Hofstra and tallying three goals and a pair of helpers against the Bobcats for his second hat trick of the season. The first-year captain opened 2025 with a 10-point, seven-assist performance against NJIT. Through four games, Nowak is third in the BIG EAST with 5.0 points per contest and is sixth nationally with 3.25 assists per game. The Wantagh, N.Y., product is eighth in the conference with 2.0 goals each game.
Kelly (22 points) and Nowak (20 points) have accounted for 42 of the Red Storm's 86 points this season. Along with freshman Ryan Ormond, the St. John's starting attackmen are all ranked in the top 41 nationally in points per game and have led the Johnnies to the No. 1 scoring offense in the BIG EAST so far this season, scoring 13.0 goals each game.
The freshmen have continued to contribute heavily this season, with four first-year Johnnies combining for 28 points. Ormond leads the team with 12 goals, while Mitch Campbell exploded onto the scene last week, tallying two goals and three assists against Quinnipiac before scoring two more times and adding a helper against Hofstra, giving him nine points on the year. Jayson Cardenas has four points this season, and Danny Koch has three.
Senior midfielder Bobby Seel had a score and a helper against Hofstra, extending his point streak to a team-best 20 games. The Garden City, N.Y., product has found the back of the net five times this season to go along with two assists.
Defensively, freshman Quinn Falasca had four caused turnovers and 11 groundballs in two games last week, earning him a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Falasca leads the team with 19 loose balls this season, while sophomore LSM Dylan Lee leads the BIG EAST and is 15th nationally with 2.25 caused turnovers per game.
Netminder Patrick Scarborough has been one of the elite goalkeepers in the BIG EAST this season, tallying 15 saves against Hofstra. The graduate student has at least 14 stops in two of his three starts. The Dickinson transfer leads the conference with 12.33 saves per game and is second with a 50.7 save percentage.
When the Red Storm and Dolphins squared off last season in Jacksonville, Seel and Jake Wright each scored two goals, but the Johnnies eventually fell, 24-7.
Jacksonville defeated Hampton, 21-6, on Saturday to improve to 2-2 on the season. After starting the season with two straight losses, the Dolphins have won two consecutive games to get back to .500.
Ninth-year Head Coach John Galloway has a balanced attack, with eight players recording at least four points and 24 players tallying at least one this season. Jack Taylor leads the squad with 16 points, 10 goals and six assists. Dyalin John-Hill and Nicky Brown each have seven goals, while Jackson Interieri has seven points on two scores and five helpers.
On the defensive end, Lucas Fraser has a team-best 10 caused turnovers, and the Dolphins as a team have 44 forced giveaways through four games.
Jacksonville has an impressive man-down unit, allowing goals on just 30.1 percent of such situations, leading the ASUN. They also lead the conference with 36 groundballs per game.
Following Friday's meeting with the Dolphins, the St. John's will wrap up its four-game homestand on Tuesday against No. 18/RV Fairfield. Faceoff from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
