St. John’s Takes Down ETSU and Kennesaw State, Extending its Winning Streak to Five Games

The Red Storm have won nine of its last 10 contests dating back to Feb. 16
The Red Storm started the day by cruising past the Buccaneers, 10-3, before taking down the Owls, 5-2. With the pair of wins, the Johnnies have now won nine of their last 10 contests dating back to its matchup with Loyola-Chicago on Feb. 16.
Ana Serafinko starred in the circle and at the dish in the day's opening contest. The junior recorded her fourth victory of the season, striking out 12 batters while just allowing three runs on four hits in five innings of work. Serafinko also tallied three hits and three RBIs from the batter's box, including her first home run and double of the season.
Game two starter Loreley Francia followed up her no-hitter yesterday by tallying her team-high seventh win of the year. The Spring, Texas product tossed the full seven innings, giving up just two earned runs on eight hits while striking out nine batters. Francia now holds a 1.17 ERA in 59.2 innings pitched with 77 strikeouts in 2025.
Jess Bianco led the Red Storm offense by totaling four hits and a walk in the two contests. The center fielder came across to score twice and drove in a run herself, bringing her totals to 20 runs scored and six RBIs on the season. Bianco leads the squad with an impressive .452 batting average.
Cassidy Stouffer drilled her second home run in as many days against ETSU and then added a crucial two-RBI double against Kennesaw State. Stouffer is off to a hot start this year, batting .370 with two homers and 10 RBIs.
London Jarrard produced a pair of doubles during a three-hit day against the Buccaneers. The senior is hitting .393 with six doubles, two homers and 21 RBIs this year.
Game 1
The Red Storm offense did not waste any time in the opening contest against ETSU (4-10) with Bianco bunting for a single before swiping second to put a runner in scoring position early. Stouffer then reached on an error ahead of Jarrard pulling an RBI single into right field to give the Red Storm an early 1-0 lead. An out later, Serafinko helped her own cause by recording an infield single to plate another run, 2-0.
Serafinko kept the momentum going inside the circle, racking up five strikeouts while surrendering just one hit in the first two innings to hold St. John's two-run advantage.
In the top of the third, Serafinko did even more damage from the dish, crushing her first home run of the season to extend the Johnnies' advantage to 3-0.
Serafinko continued her rhythm as she mowed the Bucs down 1-2-3 by striking out the side to bring her total to eight punchouts through three innings, 3-0.
Stouffer tacked on another for the Red Storm in the top of the fourth, drilling her second home run in as many days to give St. John's a 4-0 lead.
ETSU cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth, plating three runs, 4-3. Serafinko limited the damage, stranding runners on second and third by striking out the final two batters, giving her 11 strikeouts for the game.
St. John's responded right back when Melanie Santos drove a double into the gap in right-center before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Sarah Post then delivered a two-out RBI single back up the middle to give the Johnnies a two-run lead, 5-3.
After Serafinko tossed a scoreless bottom of the fifth, the offense continued to pounce in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs. Bianco singled and Stouffer walked to open the frame to put two on and no outs. Jarrard then drove an RBI double to center field and Elanna Lysiak followed up with an RBI single up the middle to make the score 7-3. After a Bucs' pitching change, Serafinko walked to load the bases before Santos bounced into a fielder's choice, bringing home Jarrard, 8-3. Sabrina Seaton then delivered a pinch-hit RBI single down the left-field line to drive home another run, 9-3.
Jailynn Banda entered in relief of Serafinko in the bottom of the sixth, sitting ETSU down 1-2-3 while striking out a batter to hold St. John's six-run advantage.
In the top of the seventh, Stouffer drew a lead-off walk and then two outs later Serafinko tallied her third RBI of the contest, sending a double to right field to increase the Johnnies lead, 10-3.
Banda sealed the deal with another scoreless inning in the bottom of the seventh, sealing St. John's 10-3 victory over ETSU.
Game 2
After a scoreless opening frame, St. John's plated the first runs of the ballgame in the top of the second against Kennesaw State (5-14). Celia Macari singled and Santos was hit by a pitch to put two on with no outs. Natalie Casto then singled back to the pitcher and an error allowed Macari to come around and score, 1-0. After the Owls recorded a pair of outs, Stouffer stepped to the dish and delivered a two-RBI double to center field, 3-0. Stouffer advanced to third on a passed ball while Jarrard worked a walk. With runners now on the corners, Jarrard swiped second and the throw allowed Stouffer to come home and score the fourth run of the inning, 4-0.
Kennesaw State answered back with a run of its own in the home half of the second when Hannah Harvey hit an RBI single. Francia limited the damage by recording her third punchout of the contest to strand two runners, 4-1.
An inning later, the Red Storm added to its lead after Casto doubled to center field and then was brought home on a Bianco single to give St. John's a 5-1 lead in the top of the fourth.
Francia settled back in on the rubber in the fourth and fifth, tossing back-to-back 1-2-3 frames to keep St. John's advantage at four runs.
The Owls found the scoreboard again the the bottom of the sixth on a Macie Howes RBI double down the left-field line, 5-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Kennesaw State threatened, putting runners on first and second with one out, but Francia closed the door on an Owls comeback to secure the 5-2 win for the Johnnies.
St. John's will conclude its time at the Kennesaw State Tournament when it takes on ETSU tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
