St. John’s To Square Off With Manhattan and Fairfield in Pair of Midweek Contests

The Red Storm swept Maine in a three-game series last weekend
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a weekend series sweep of Maine, the St. John's baseball team will square off with Manhattan and Fairfield for a pair of midweek contests this Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
The Red Storm (6-11) will host Manhattan at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Tuesday, before heading to Connecticut to take on Fairfield on Wednesday. First pitch for both contests is scheduled for 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloSports while live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies swept Maine in last weekend's three-game series (W 7-5, W 8-7, W 11-6). In the first two games of the set, St. John's walked off the Black Bears to win its weekend series. Adam Agresti smashed a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 16th inning on Friday and Sean Britt smacked a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday.
The Johnnies exploded on offense against Maine this weekend, totaling 26 runs on 35 hits with nine doubles, two home runs, a triple and 21 RBIs. Jayder Raifstanger, Luke Orbon, Jared Beebe and Jackson Tucker all batted over .300 with five hits and at least one RBI. The Johnnies scored seven or more runs in all three games against the Black Bears.
Agresti had a productive week against Stony Brook and Maine, slashing .308/438/846 with four hits, two home runs, a double, five runs scored, four RBIs and three walks. The catcher reached base three times with a trio of scores on Sunday afternoon and smashed a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Anthony Brienza had a big week against the Black Bears and Seawolves, producing an efficient .429/.467/.500 slash line on a team-best six hits, including a double, three runs scored and three RBIs with a walk and a stolen base.
Tucker was perfect on the base paths last week, stealing five bases on five attempts. The outfielder ranks 39th in the nation with 12 stolen bags on the year. Additionally, the senior comes into the week looking to extend his team-best 12-game hitting and on-base streak.
Tyler Longoria shined out of the bullpen in the Johnnies' 16-inning 7-5 win on Friday. In just the third appearance of his collegiate career, the freshman went for a season-high four innings, giving up only one hit and tossing a season-best six punchouts, en route to his first career win.
St. John's and Manhattan will meet for the 39th time in the all-time series between the two teams on Tuesday. The Red Storm leads the series 27-11 and has won seven of its last 10 matchups. Last season, the Johnnies took down the Jaspers, 10-5, in Queens.
The Jaspers head across the George Washington Bridge with a 7-11 overall record, most recently dropping all three games of its weekend series to Fairfield.
Manhattan has three starters batting over .300, with Andreaus Lewis leading the way, boasting a team-best .377/.468/.585 slash line, 20 hits, 14 RBIs, nine runs scored, five doubles, two homers and seven walks. Preston Tamm has dominated on the mound for the Jaspers, logging a 1.56 ERA across 17.1 innings of work. He has also tossed 13 strikeouts and only has allowed seven runs.
