St. John’s Claims First in Two Weapons at the NCAA Northeast Regional

The Red Storm had a fencer finish top 10 in all six weapons
MEDFORD, Mass. – The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams had 21 fencers compete for spots at the NCAA Championships on Sunday.
The Red Storm claimed first in two weapons on the men's side while having a fencer inside the top 10 in each of the categories on the women's side.
Vlad Covaliu claimed the top position in the men's saber, while fellow Johnnies Adham Moataz (3rd) and Darii Lukashenko(5th) both finished top five in the weapon. Daniil Mazur finished in the top spot of the men's epee, while freshman Samuel Imrekimpressed by competing to a third-place finish. In the men's foil, Jan Nowak (7th) and Igor Wozniak (10th) both finished inside the top 10.
On the women's side, Julia Cieslar and Catinca Dumitru were the team's top finishers, competing to a fifth and sixth place mark in the women's saber, respectively. Antonina Lachman captured seventh in the women's foil, while Eva Galper tallied a 10th-place finish in the women's epee.
St. John's will now look ahead to the NCAA Championships that are set to take place from March 20-23 at Penn State University.
