Following a 1-2-3 top of the first inning for the Red Storm's starting pitcher, David Rodriguez, the Johnnies put runners on the corners from a Raifstanger double into left field and a Beebe single through the right side. Xavier was able to put away the side with a strikeout and a popup, keeping the game scoreless.
The Musketeers put the first score of the contest on the board in the top of the second. Xavier earned runners on the corners off a double and a single, with one runner scoring off a balk issued to St. John's to go ahead 1-0.
The Red Storm tied things up in the bottom of the second frame. Orbon smacked a double down the left field line, before advancing to third on a groundout. LeGrande took advantage of the runner on third base, taking a 1-0 pitch to the opposite field to score Orbon and knot the contest, 1-1.
Rodriguez posted another 1-2-3 inning in the fourth, as the Johnnies went in front with a two-spot in the bottom of the stanza. Agresti opened the side by sending a single into right-center field, ahead of Orbon reaching off a bunt. The pair of runners moved into scoring position from a sacrifice bunt, ahead of LeGrande whacking a two-run single through the right side to give the home team a 3-1 advantage.
In the home half of the fifth inning, the Johnnies extended their advantage with another two runs. McMillan jump-started the stanza with a single up the middle, before he moved over to second base on a wild pitch. Agresti proceeded to double into deep center field, bringing McMillan home, while Orbon scored him on an RBI one-bagger that pushed St. John's lead to four, 5-1.
The Musketeers tacked on a trio of tallies in the top of the sixth frame. The away squad put two runners on base from a hit-by-pitch and a single, scoring one from an Aeden Anderson base knock. Three straight walks loaded the bases and posted another two runs for Xavier, as it cut its deficit down to one, 5-4.

A pair of walks with a combination of three stolen bases put two runners in scoring position for Connor Misch, who hit a sacrifice fly that scored one and tied the game. Boyle came on in relief and flipped the side, engineering a strikeout and a groundout. The Johnnies couldn't score in the bottom of the stanza, moving the game into extra innings.
Boyle sat the Musketeers down in order with two strikeouts and a flyout to kick off the 10th inning. LeGrande led off the bottom of the frame and wasted no time, crushing a 2-0 pitch into the visiting bullpen to walk off the Musketeers, 6-5.
