St. John’s to Continue Homestand with Series Against UConn

The Red Storm is 14-3 at home this season
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a 6-5 walk-off victory over Rutgers, the St. John's baseball team will continue its homestand when it hosts UConn in a crucial three-game BIG EAST series starting on Friday from Jack Kaiser Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
Due to forecasted inclement weather on Saturday, the Red Storm and the Huskies will play a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. First pitch for Sunday's contest is also set for 1 p.m. FloSports will carry the entire series with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm (20-17, 6-3 BIG EAST) comes into its fourth BIG EAST series of the season after walking off Rutgers, 6-5, at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Johnnies are now 14-3 at home with four series wins in Queens, N.Y.
Jace Jeremiah hit the walk-off RBI single, his sole hit of the contest, to secure the win for the Red Storm against the Scarlet Knights on Tuesday. Jared Beebe dominated in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 on the day with a double, a run scored and an RBI, while Jayder Raifstanger and Jon LeGrande each tallied a pair of hits with a run scored. Jed Boyle picked up his team-leading sixth win of the year, tossing 2.0 innings of one-hit ball with a punchout to close the game.
The Red Storm's corner infielders, Beebe and Raifstanger, are having spectacular seasons at the plate in 2025. Beebe is currently slashing .364/.429/.552 with a team-leading 17 doubles, 30 RBIs and 28 scores. Nationally, the standout corner infielder is 15th in the country with 17 doubles and is 67th with three triples. Raifstanger's team-leading 56 hits and .376 batting average both rank fifth in the BIG EAST and 100th and 103rd in the country, as of April 24.
Jackson Tucker continued to climb program career leaderboards after enjoying a 6-for-14 showing against Creighton and Rutgers with a home run, six scores, four RBIs, three walks and a trio of stolen bases. With his three steals, the Staten Island native passed Thomas Cipolla for sole possession of third place on the Red Storm's all-time career stolen bases list, totaling 88 in his St. John's tenure. The senior also ranks fourth all-time on the Johnnies' career runs list with 179. Tucker sits 24th in the nation with 25 stolen bags and is ranked as the 141st toughest to strikeout batter.
St. John's and UConn will meet for the 130th time in the all-time series when this weekend's set kicks off on Friday afternoon. The Huskies hold a 67-62 all-time advantage over the Red Storm, but the Johnnies hold a slim 32-28 edge in Queens. Last year, St. John's dropped its series to UConn (L 4-11, W 15-7, L 8-11) in Storrs, Conn. Jimmy Keenan was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, after slashing .417/.500/1.000 with five hits and two homers against UConn.

The Huskies are riding a 10-game win streak, most recently taking down UMass, 12-2, on Tuesday in Hartford, Conn., and Army, 12-5, on Wednesday in Storrs, Conn.
