St. John’s to Polish Off Homestand Against Iona

The Red Storm took down the Gaels 8-3 earlier this season in New Rochelle
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's baseball team will polish off its five-game homestand when it welcomes Iona to Queens for a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Jack Kaiser Stadium.
First pitch for Tuesday's nonconference contest is set for 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on FloSports with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm (20-20, 6-6 BIG EAST) will host Iona after dropping its BIG EAST series to UConn, last weekend at Jack Kaiser Stadium. As a team, the Johnnies racked up 25 hits, eight doubles, a triple, two homers and 15 walks. St. John's also posted 10 or more hits in two games against the Huskies.
Jon LeGrande continued his impressive stretch of baseball, going 5-for-11 at the plate with a triple, six RBIs, two stolen bases, a run scored and a walk last weekend. The outfielder comes into the meeting with a .341 batting average and a team-leading 34 RBIs and four triples. The junior checks in at 35th in NCAA Division I in three-baggers.
Shaun McMillan had a hot bat yet again, totaling four hits, including two doubles and a homer, with two RBIs, two scores and a walk against the Huskies. The freshman will look to extend his team-best 19 game on-base streak on Tuesday.
Jackson Tucker has climbed program career leaderboards during his senior season in Queens. With three steals against Creighton, the Staten Island native passed Thomas Cipolla for third all-time on the Red Storm's all-time career stolen bases list, with 88 in his St. John's tenure. The senior also ranks fourth all-time on the Johnnies' career runs list with 180. Tucker sits 28th in the nation with 25 stolen bags and is the 90th toughest to strikeout batter.
Jared Beebe has racked up extra-base hits in 2025, leading the Red Storm and the BIG EAST with 18 doubles. The senior's doubles mark ranks 16th in the country, while his 59 total hits sit 112th in the nation, as of April 28. On the year, the first baseman is slashing .353/.416/.533.
St. John's and Iona will square off for the 76th time in the all-time series on Tuesday afternoon. The Johnnies boast a 64-11 all-time advantage over the Gaels and a 41-4 record in Queens. St. John's has won 18 straight games against Iona dating back to 2013. In their meeting earlier this season, the Red Storm came away with an 8-3 victory in New Rochelle, N.Y. Luke Orbon went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two scores.
Iona will head across the Throggs Neck Bridge to face the Red Storm on Tuesday with a 14-27 overall record and an 8-13 mark in the MAAC. The Gaels have lost four of their last six games, most recently dropping their series to Siena over the weekend at City Park in New Rochelle, N.Y., (L 6-2, L 7-6, W 6-5). In its midweek contest against LIU last Wednesday, Iona fell to the Sharks, 6-5.
