St. John’s Continue Road Swing at Providence on Saturday

The Red Storm and Friars will tip-off at 1 p.m. inside Alumni Hall
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will travel to the Ocean State to take on Providence on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Saturday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Mike Mancuso and Pam Roecker on the call from Alumni Hall.
In their most recent outing, St. John's (16-7, 6-6 BIG EAST) fell on the road, 81-51, on Wednesday night in Omaha. Creighton knocked down 44.0% of its shots from beyond the arc, going 11-for-25, to secure a home victory.
Sa'Mya Wyatt led the Red Storm with 14 points and eight rebounds, leading the team in both categories, while Shaulana Wagner added 13 points in 23 minutes of action. Kylie Lavelle and Daniela Abies each grabbed seven rebounds for St. John's.
Brooke Moore earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors for the third time this season on Jan. 26. She led St. John's in scoring both games, averaging 18 points on 68.4% shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line against Marquette and Villanova.
Through 23 games, the Red Storm have made their presence felt defensively. St. John's sits second in the BIG EAST and 27th in the nation in blocked shots, logging 5.0 per contest.
St. John's and Providence (10-12, 3-8 BIG EAST) will face off for the second time this season and the 84th meeting overall on Saturday afternoon. The Red Storm lead the all-time series 50–33. Earlier this season, St. John's rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit to sink the Friars, 62-55, on Dec. 7.
The Friars opened 2026 with a 2-5 record, most recently falling to Villanova on the road, 83-68, on Jan. 27. Providence is now 10-12 overall and 3-8 in BIG EAST play and is currently sitting in eighth in conference standings.
Sabou Gueye paced the Friars with a 22-point performance while chipping in six boards, five assists and a swipe. Teneisia Brown also reached double figures, scoring 14, on Tuesday night.
Gueye ranks fourth in the conference with a 49.3% field goal percentage and averages 14.6 points per game, placing sixth in the BIG EAST. On defense, Gueye is 11th in the league, averaging 0.95 blocks per game. Orlagh Gormley stands sixth in the conference with 4.2 assists per game and holds the fourth-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league at 1.83.
