Fencing Prepares for NCAA Northeast Regional

The Red Storm will send 20 fencers to Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
QUEENS, N.Y. — St. John's is set to send 20 fencers to the NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by Vassar in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Sunday.
Final results will be available on RedStormSports.com after the event.
The Red Storm will have 12 men and eight women compete for an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which are set to take place from March 19-22 at Notre Dame.
At last year's regional, St. John's had a fencer finish inside the top 10 in all six weapons. In men's saber, Vlad Covaliu captured first place while Adham Moataz finished third and Darii Lukasehnko placed fifth. In men's epee, Daniil Mazur claimed first place and Samuel Imrek finished third. In men's foil, Jan Nowak placed seventh and Igor Wozniak finished 10th.
On the women's side, Catinca Dumitru finished sixth in women's saber. Antonina Lachman placed seventh in women's foil, while Nicole Feygin rounded out the Red Storm's top 10 finishes with a 10th-place mark in women's epee.
