QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's lacrosse team earned its first home win of the season, defeating Dartmouth, 15-8, behind a career-high seven-point performance from junior Mike Madsen on Tuesday.
The Red Storm's win (3-4) ended a three-game losing streak and marked the team's first victory at DaSilva Memorial Field since March 24, 2018, when the Johnnies upset No. 19/18 Hofstra, 9-8.
"I'm glad for our guys to get back in the win column. I thought we did a lot of good things today," said Head Coach Jason Miller. "It was good to see our faceoff guys have some success. They've been working hard. We made some good things happen out there today."
Mike Madsen paced the way offensively for St. John's, as the midfielder/attackman ended the day with two goals and five assists. The Locust Valley, N.Y., native eclipsed his career-high five points that he set earlier this season at Hartford on Feb. 19.

The Johnnies started the contest with the first goal for the sixth time this season, as Joe Madsen fired a shot past Dartmouth goalkeeper Daniel Hincks at the 8:24 mark in the opening period. The Red Storm would score four more goals to close out the first quarter, taking a 5-3 lead into the second. Agres recorded eight of his 19 saves in the first 15 minutes of play.
The Johnnies carried their momentum into the second period, scoring the first three goals to increase their lead to four, 7-3. Dartmouth's Trevor Ballantyne scored his lone goal of the contest to end the Big Green's scoring drought with 3:12 left in the half.

St. John's never looked back after the Big Green's Ben Martin and Matt Paul scored two quick goals to start the period. The Johnnies answered with five-straight goals to extend their lead to 12-6 with 12:59 left in the fourth quarter.
Dartmouth temporarily stopped the bleeding by tallying two goals within a minute of play to trail by four, 12-8. However, the Johnnies showed no signs of relinquishing its lead as Mike Madsen, Swartwood, and Huber each scored to close the game with a 15-8 advantage.
