4x400-Meter Relay Takes First Place at NYRR Millrose Games

The Red Storm recorded a time of 3:42.63
NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 8, 2020) – The St. John's 4x400-meter relay team grabbed a first place finish at the 113th running of the NYRR Millrose Games on Saturday afternoon.
Brianna Burkley, Avon Samuels, Skyy Diop and Leah Anderson took the top podium spot at the world's longest-running and most prestigious indoor track & field competition with a time of 3:42.63.
The team shaved 1.24 seconds off their previous mark of 3:43.87 that they set last weekend to earn first place at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships. The Red Storm's time ranks first on the BIG EAST leaderboard this season and 67th in the nation.
Senior sprinter Destiny Davis also teamed up with Samuels, Diop and Anderson in the 4x200-meter relay, capturing second place in the event with a mark of 1:38.43.
"We had an exceptional Millrose Games," Head Coach Jim Hurt said. "Our alumni were also outstanding in their respective events. It was a great day for St. John's track & field."
Former Johnnies Getulio Echeandia, Erica Graham and Maya Stephens also participated in the 2020 NYRR Millrose Games, earning first, fourth and fifth place finishes in their respective events.
The Johnnies return to action when they head to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday, Feb. 14.
