St. John’s Competes at David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Two Johnnies logged a top-five finish over the weekend
BOSTON- The St. John's track and field team wrapped up two days of competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University Track and Tennis Center on Saturday.
In the 200 meters, Delicia Bent set a new personal best with a time of 24.13, earning a fourth-place finish in the process. Nora Haugen also notched a career best result in the 200 with a mark of 24.73, good for 16th place overall. Brooklyn Chestnut logged a time of 25.02, and Chinenye Onuorah posted a mark of 25.18. Tea Siehou rounded out the sprinters with a time of 25.79.
Haugen and Onuorah registered 400-meter dash times of 55.88 and 56.01, respectively. Quitterie Dujardin crossed the line at 57.80, and Blessing Assoumany logged a time of 1:00.65.
Nia Holden set a new personal best time in the 800-meter run with a mark of 2:11.03. The freshman tandem of Ezgi Yasar and Leilani Robinson notched times of 2:19.22 and 2:23.33, respectively.
In the pole vault, Colette Metcalf and Meghan Ladd both cleared the 3.30-meter bar to finish sixth and tenth, respectively.
Samantha Morillo-Martinez grabbed the second top-five finish for the Red Storm at the meet, securing fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.90 meters.
St. John's will take a week off before heading to Chicago to battle against the best in the conference at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 24.
