St. John’s to Welcome Rider for Three-Game Series

The Red Storm carries a seven-game winning streak into Friday’s contest with the Broncs
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a walk-off victory over Stony Brook for its seventh consecutive win, the St. John's baseball team will look to stay hot this weekend when Rider comes to Jack Kaiser Stadium for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday's and Sunday's contests will both start at 1 p.m.
All three contests between the Red Storm and the Broncs will be audio-only broadcasts. Live stats will be provided for both contests on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's jumped out to its longest winning streak since the start of 2021 with back-to-back wins over LIU and Stony Brook. The Red Storm used a nine-run fifth inning to secure a 13-2 win against the Sharks on Tuesday.
The Johnnies followed up with a dramatic 9-8 victory over the Seawolves, seeing Aidan Cohall finish off a five-run comeback with a walk-off single in the ninth. Sophomore Jimmy Keenan unloaded seven RBIs in two games, going 6-for-9 at the dish with three doubles and three runs scored. The opposition swung .238 against the Red Storm bullpen over the two games with five different relievers tossing an inning or more of scoreless work.
The Johnnies are slashing .328/.418/.475 as a team and averaging 9.1 runs per contest on its seven-game winning streak. Keenan has logged 25 percent of the team's run production with 15 RBIs. The sophomore catcher has been on a tear with a .500 batting average and seven of his 15 hits going for extra bases. Ben Beauchamp has been equally as efficient in the two-hole, slashing .522/.621/.696 with 14 runs scored.
The Red Storm is off to the best 14-game start under Head Coach Mike Hampton. It also marks the Red Storm's best start to a season since going 12-2 to begin the 2017 season. With a victory on Friday, the Johnnies will be on its longest winning streak since rattling off 12 straight wins in 2018, which included three BIG EAST series sweeps against Villanova, Creighton and Georgetown.

The Broncs knocked off the Blue Devils, 6-2, behind two-RBI performances from Luke Lesch and Jack Winsett. Clayton Poliey also tossed 8.0 shutout innings in the win, allowing eight hits and zero walks while striking out eight batters.
Lesch has paced the way offensively with a .333/.429/.548 slash line to go with seven RBIs and seven runs scored. The graduate utilityman has also logged six doubles on the year.
As a team, the Broncs are hitting .196 and averaging 3.4 runs per game. The pitching staff is also logging a 9.18 ERA.
